Kevin Rudd is the former Australian Prime Minister, he's the local member for us here in Woolloongabba and also, from the interactions that I have had with him a stand up guy. His time in parliament as Prime Minister isn't something I am really too informed on but I do know that he was one of the first Aussie Prime ministers to stand up and speak out about climate change! He signed the Kyoto Protocol which was a plan to make a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020. He also started the grants scheme that allowed the industry in which we operate to get the kick-starter it needed to begin the Green Revolution here in Australia.
Kevin Rudd also believes in community - which is one of the strongest reasons in which I do what I do. K-Rudd believes in building community to support local businesses and to create thriving local commerce. I told him about the fact that we work with Food Connect (http://brisbane.foodconnect.com.au) who source all of their produce within 5 hours of Brisbane, they do so ethically and pay back 40% of the profits to farmers. The produce that is sourced is spray free, organic, biodynamic and totally delicious. You can taste the difference and the love that has gone into this food.
During Kevin Rudds visit we had the opportunity to share our vision for the future of not only our company, but the industry in which we operate. Leigh Storr and the team of incredibly talented people he has created, work tirelessly to create a better environment for the employees to work and build their career. The by-product is happy, healthy staff that truly believe in what they're doing, and the wellness and enthusiasm and belief they have in the products and service BioSolar (www.biosolar.com.au) provides really rubs off on the customers they serve.
Kevin also tried all of the raw treats I passed his way and listened intently as I went on and on and on about raw food! Haha. From what I could tell, he enjoyed them all!
